Thrive Support Services’ Film, Drama & Acting program allows participants the opportunity to express themselves and to learn new skills to build up confidence ready for the outside world and develop creative skills.
We provide opportunities to participants to allow to express and tell their story through acting and drama.
Drama skills are life skills. As people find their voice and develop their craft, they grow in leadership and independence. This can create exciting new employment pathways.
Our aim with this program, is about breaking down barriers and raising our voices, and showing the world what people with disability are capable of achieving.
We know ourselves, that there is an enormous amount of talent within the community who has a disability.
The very best actors, producers, business people, entrepreneurs, singers and entertainers and sportspeople have a disability. And with the help of drama and acting skills and techniques, someone with a disability has the power to be successful in their own right and become confident in overcoming anything in life.
Film Program
Our film program combines the drama and acting techniques and skills taught, and portraying them onto screen.
We regularly shoot short films of our participants progress as well as a monthly film which we assist our participants in writing a play or short film, producing, directing and filming their work and converting this to a professional film for them to keep and use.
Thrive’s Film & Drama program also allows participants to be included into selected Film Awards across Australia. Notably, the Focus On Ability Film Awards is perhaps the biggest opportunity for participants to showcase their talent.
