Our horticulture group is for all the green thumbs and outdoor enthusiasts.
The Thrive Gardening Crew provides participants, the opportunity to develop and learn new skills and knowledge basic gardening, lawn care and horticulture skills and activities. The horticulture session often collaborates in group projects to promote team work, self-worth, friendship and self-confidence.
Managed by our own Qualified and experienced Horticulturist, Landscaper and designer of over 30 years, Craig will oversee various activities to enhance a participants cognitive skills, imagination and creativity skills as well as have an enormous amount of fun doing it.
Gardening and horticulture is very therapeutic. And just by being outdoors whether it be mowing, planting vegetables or seedlings, weeding or creating a flower arrangement, the benefits are endless to all of our participants.
Film & Drama
Thrive Support Services’ Film, Drama & Acting program allows participants the opportunity to express themselves and to learn new skills to build up confidence ready for the outside world and develop creative skills.
We provide opportunities to participants to allow to express and tell their story through acting and drama.
Drama skills are life skills. As people find their voice and develop their craft, they grow in leadership and independence. This can create exciting new employment pathways.
Our aim with this program, is about breaking down barriers and raising our voices, and showing the world what people with disability are capable of achieving.
We know ourselves, that there is an enormous amount of talent within the community who has a disability.
The very best actors, producers, business people, entrepreneurs, singers and entertainers and sportspeople have a disability. And with the help of drama and acting skills and techniques, someone with a disability has the power to be successful in their own right and become confident in overcoming anything in life.
Film Program
Our film program combines the drama and acting techniques and skills taught, and portraying them onto screen.
We regularly shoot short films of our participants progress as well as a monthly film which we assist our participants in writing a play or short film, producing, directing and filming their work and converting this to a professional film for them to keep and use.
Thrive’s Film & Drama program also allows participants to be included into selected Film Awards across Australia. Notably, the Focus On Ability Film Awards is perhaps the biggest opportunity for participants to showcase their talent.

These programs provide opportunities for participants with a disability to build skills in confidence, expressing ideas, movement, voice and articulation, improvisation and performance.
Drama and acting is about communication, and about showing a specific set of skills that cannot be measured by the systems and structures of a modern and complex world.

Art & Craft
Our Art & Craft program introduces the participants to a range of art and craft techniques. Participants can join in as a group or have the space to share and pursue their own individual art or craft interests. This is the place for participants to really explore their design and creativity skills.
Our aim is to focus on skill development and overall well being of our participants. By exploring artistic voices, personal interests and self expression we build confidence and a sense of pride through every piece of art created.
